Description
ABHA Arena is an indoor sports venue in Al Rayyan, Qatar, designed to host major competitions and other large-scale events. The arena was built for the 2015 Men's World Handball Championship. Currently, the site is managed by the Al-Sadd Sports Club, and the arena itself is the home hall of its handball team.
Over the years, ABHA Arena has become a venue for international tournaments in various sports disciplines. In 2015, the AIBA World Boxing Championship was held here, and a year later the site hosted the Intercontinental Futsal Cup and the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship. Thus, the arena managed to host competitions with the participation of athletes from different countries.
Among the notable events of recent years is the 2023 World Judo Championship. The site continues to develop as a multi-functional sports center and will eventually host the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The holding of such tournaments attracts athletes, fans and guests from all over the world to Qatar.
Today, ABHA Arena retains an important role in the sports infrastructure of Qatar. High-level competitions take place here, and the site’s poster is regularly updated with new events.
