Description
In the very center of Yerevan stands the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, a shining example of Armenian architectural heritage. Designed by the renowned architect Alexander Tamanyan and completed by his son Gevorg, this majestic building combines winter and summer venues with two amphitheaters and independent stages.
The building was awarded the Gold Medal at the 1937 Paris International Exhibition and officially opened in 1953. Since then, it has undergone numerous modernizations. In 1979, the hall was named after the renowned composer Aram Khachaturian, and between 1981 and 1983, a major renovation was carried out, including replacement of the seats and updating of the stage equipment.
Today, the hall seats 1,300 spectators and remains a key center of Armenia's cultural life. A monument to Aram Khachaturian stands in front of the building, harmoniously complementing the architectural ensemble of Place de France.
