Celine Dion returns to the stage for the first time in four years
One of the most famous singers in history will return to the stage. In 2021, Celine Dion was diagnosed with Migere syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects muscle control and the vocal cords. The singer was unable to walk or sing properly, and tours were canceled one after another. It seemed the stage was a thing of the past.
But Celine didn't give up. Four years of treatment, rehabilitation, and self-improvement later, on March 30, her 58th birthday, she addressed her fans in person: "I feel good, I'm strong, I'm excited. I'm singing again and even dancing a little." And she announced her return, calling it "the best gift of her life."
The comeback venue was the Paris La Defense Arena, one of the largest indoor stadiums in Europe with a capacity of up to 45,000 spectators. Initially, 10 shows were planned from September 12 to October 14, but demand was so huge that the organizers added six more dates. The final show will take place on October 17, with concerts twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The fan response was record-breaking. When ticket registration opened, the servers couldn't handle the load: approximately 500,000 people simultaneously visited the website in the first few minutes. Within 24 hours, a million people had registered, and three days later, the number of applications from around the world exceeded 9 million—from the US, UK, Australia, France, and dozens of other countries. For comparison, the entire population of Paris is only 2 million.
