Description
The United States national soccer team, known as the "Stars and Stripes" or "Yankees," represents the United States of America in international soccer. The team is a member of CONCACAF and is governed by the United States Soccer Federation. Under head coach Mauricio Pochettino, the team is ranked 15th in the FIFA World Rankings as of January 2026.
The team's history began with its first match in 1885 and its first official game in 1916 against Sweden, which the Americans won 3-2. One of its significant achievements was participation in the inaugural World Cup in 1930, where the United States team won bronze. Throughout its history, the team has also won the CONCACAF Gold Cup seven times.
The national team's roster includes 24 players, including representatives of all key positions: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. This allows the team to demonstrate a balanced and strategically sound game on the field.
